Helpful Tips & Reminders for your
Presentation(s) of Learning!
NEUTRAL POSITION!
Stand strong in neutral with your feet shoulder width apart. It’ll help you stay grounded and focused during your presentation!
NO PEE PEE DANCING!
Fidgeting, and rocking back and forth during your POL is how your body shows us that you’re a little nervous. Seeing pee pee dancing on stage, during a presentation, during a speech, etc. can be really distracting to your audience and panel members. Remember to breathe and check your neutral position, it will eliminate the pee pee dance, every time!
DON’T BE A POCKET PERSON!
Your hands should be free to gesture and help you tell a story! They can’t do that if they’re in your pockets...
VOICE!
It’s more important to be clear, than it is to be loud. Your voice can be clearly heard and understood at a 3 or 4.
PACING!
Slow down! Don’t rush through your presentation...you’ve done some beautiful work and we want to hear all about it! Do some home rehearsal with a timer and make sure that your POL isn’t running too long, or too short, but that you’re giving yourself enough time to talk about all of your projects equally.
PRIDE!
You set the tone for your whole presentation. If you’re excited and prepared to be a dynamic speaker, your audience will be right there with you! Remember that this is your time to show off all of your hard work...be proud!
PANEL!
Being the presenter is the harder job. Being the audience is the BIGGER job. Participating on the panel is just as important as giving the presentation. Remember to exhibit beautiful audience behavior and support your peers!
CONCLUSION!
Every great POL has a strong finish! Don’t forget to thank your audience for their participation in your presentation!
